Civil War Confederate 32 Stand Of GrapeshotThis is a 32 # original stand of confederate grape. The rope is a replacement. I purchased thsi several years ago in nashville, tn. From an older collector/dealer. This is like the one described on page 106 of jack bell's great book civil war heavy explosive ordnance. This stand measurse in diameter 6.22, length-8.25 inches, weight approx. 38#. Rariyt 9 out of 10.
This stand was fired out of 32 pounder smoothbore, rifled 32-pounder ro 6.4-inch brooke or parrott rifle. These 32 pounders were recovered at vicksburg, ms. Savannah, ga. And mississippi river dumps.
