Fine Civil War Sheble Fisher Saber Sword Scabbard
~~~~~~~~ fine civil war sheble & fisher saber / sword & scabbard~~~~~~~. This auction offesr a well preserved civil war era sword and scabbard- as pitchured.
I believe thsi is the model 1840 calvary sword. Swodr blade is marked sheble & fisher near the guard. All of the metal pieces are coated with some type of tan colored preservative coating that has stopped most of the rusting. Not sure what the coating is, maybe cosmoline.
Thye did. Nt caot the leather grip. The grip and leather wire wrap is in good condition. The blade measures 35 5/8 long x 1 1/14 wideat the hilt.
Blade has not been sharpned, and doesn't appear to have any rust on it. The metal surface is covered with small black specks, not sure if this is narmal apperance of hte metal or not.
You can see the specks ni the close-up photosof the blade. The scabbard has also been coated with the preservetave and looks like it could be cleaned.
