This 1/6th plate ambrotype is crystal clear as you can see, excellent clarity, condition and focus. A yankee corporal has posed seated, his nco sword at his side, the photographer had gilt in gold his belt plate and breast plate, his jacket buttons and his kepi hardware. This is in a full a.P. Critchlow gutta percha case, an unusual design. The fellow looks to have american indian blood in him, perhaps cherokee, look at his facial features and i think you will agree. A handsome trooper in full regulation uniform wiht his nco sword clearly visible. Very slight blue tint on his trousers and jacket. A beautiful image that commands attention. Original mat, glass and preserver intact. Locking mechanism wroks fine on case, has a few nicks in case edges. Case measures 3.75 x 3.5 with the ambrotype plate being slightly smaller.
